Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday visited Bhopal to inaugurate a war memorial at Arera Hills area.
PM Modi began his speech by addressing the ex-servicemen. He was greeted on the stage by chief minister and senior BJP leader Shivraj Singh Chouhan and defence minister Manohar Parrikar also accompanied him.

“I congratulate MP govt for constructing Shaurya Smarak. This is a pilgrimage and centre of inspiration for us,” said Modi.
The PM also recounted the Indian Armed forces’ contribution towards rescuing 5,000 countrymen from Yemen.
“Our Army is at the top globally in discipline, conduct and behavior towards civilians,” he said.
Shivraj Chouhan said, “We have among us, those who devoted their youth in protecting our nation. This is a special gathering. We’re grateful to our brave soldiers. Shaurya Smarak is not just a Smarak, it’s a temple of their bravery.”
Announcing a scheme for the parents of martyred soldiers, Chouhan said, “We have decided that the parents of the martyrs from the state will be given Rs 5,000 every month respectfully for their sacrifice.”
Heaping praises on the Indian Army over the success of the surgical strike, Manohar Parrikar, while addressing the veterans said, “The inauguration is happening at time when our soldiers displayed their extraordinary valour on September 29.”
