A one-sided love affair led to the murder of a 17-year-old girl at Baloda Bazar village of Chhattisgarh.
The girl was murdered in broad daylight while she was on her way to school which is around 8 kilometers from her home.
Spurned lover attacks girl with hammer, tries to commit suicide

According to Ashok Kewat, kin of the victim, Gopi, who was also the resident of Baloda Bazar fell in love with the girl and was following the girl since quite some time.
Gopi was following the victim for some time and had even proposed to her, but the girl rejected it.
Agitated over the fact that the girl had turned down his proposal, Gopi followed the girl when she was on her way to school, attacked him with a hammer and ran away.
The villagers rushed the injured girl to the hospital but the girl could not survive. Later, Gopi also attempted to suicide by consuming poison but he was rushed to hospital and was out of danger.
The police was informed about the whole incident and during the investigation Gopi confessed to his crime.
A case has been registered against Gopi under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code.
