A gang of robbers on Friday looted cash worth over two lakh rupees from a Bagbahara post office in Mahasamund district, falling under Bagbahara police station, in the city.
District post officer Saurabh Srivasatava informed that the incident took place on Friday night. He informed about robbery to the postmaster on Saturday morning following which police was called and begun investigation.
Shrivastava said that robbers barged into post office after breaking main gate and looted nearly Rs 2.15 lakh cash that was kept in the almirah. They also scattered the postal stamps on the floor.
Meanwhile, crime branch has been informed about the incident and hunt to nab the robbers is on.
