HMD Global launched the cheapest Nokia-branded phone, the Nokia 2, in India on Thursday at a price of Rs 6,999. The Nokia 2, much like the Nokia 3 and the Nokia 5, will also be available for buying via offline stores across the country. In India, the Nokia 2 will start selling from November 24, in as many as three colours: Pewter/Black, Pewter/White and Copper/Black. Jio customers can avail additional 45GB 4G data on purchase of the Nokia 2 – 5GB data on every recharge of Rs 309 and above for 9 recharges till August 31, 2018, HMD has announced.
Much like the Nokia 3 and the Nokia 5, the Nokia 2 also banks heavily on design and stock Android experience. The main highlight of the Nokia 2, however, is its massive 4,100mAh battery that is claimed to offer up to 2-days of battery life on single charge. The closest rival to the Nokia 2, on arrival, will Xiaomi’s Redmi 4 that also crams in a similar sized battery that offers outstanding battery life.

Nokia claims that the two day battery life is achieved through a combination of factors – the massive battery being just one of them. The phone uses a high contrast LTPS display which HMD claims uses less power. Additionally, the efficient Snapdragon 212 processor is said to deliver great battery life.
Just like the Nokia 3, Nokia 5, Nokia 6and Nokia 8, the Nokia 2 runs on a pure and untouched build of Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box. Nokia has confirmed that the smartphone will be updated to Android 8.0 Oreo very soon.
On the imaging front, the Nokia 2 comes with an 8MP camera at the rear paired with a 5MP camera up front for selfies. Design wise, the Nokia 2 comes with a polycarbonate back which is mated to a frame made out of series 6000 aluminium.
