Nokia is back. And it is already creating a ton of buzz. Earlier we saw the company launching the Nokia 6, a mid-range phone, in China. Now there is new about the Nokia 8, which is supposedly going to be the flagship Android phone from Nokia in the coming months. The phone, which is likely to have two versions, will be formally launched on February 26 at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

The more expensive version of the Nokia 8 is likely to come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and 6GB RAM. It is also supposed to sport a 24-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss lens and other camera features similar to earlier top Nokia phones like the Lumia 1020. It is also likely to come with a 12-megapixel front camera and it is said that the phone will have stereo speakers, both on the front. The cheaper variant will possibly have Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor along with 4GB RAM. Both variants are likely to come with support of microSD card. The cheaper variant may have 32GB internal storage while the more expensive one may come with 64GB or 128GB.

The prototype high-end Nokia phones were snapped at Qualcomm’s booth at CES, where the company was demonstrating the features of Snapdragon 835 with these devices.

Although Nokia has already announced the Nokia 6 in China, the company is yet to make a global move. Nokia’s phone business was revived last year when a new company called HMD was formed by people who were earlier part of Nokia or Microsoft’s Lumia phone division. HMD then got rights to use Nokia brand from Microsoft and it entered into a partnership with Foxconn to make Nokia branded phones.

Nokia — read HMD — is expected to join the global phone market after February 26. On that day, the company is holding a big media event in Barcelona, hoping to make a splash by launching a number of phones. It is expected that we will see the formal unveiling of Nokia 8 at the MWC, along with a possible announcement for the global rollout of Nokia 6.
