Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday said that a compensation of Rs 2 lakh has been announced for those killed in the MP train accident that caused two trains to derail here.
“Apart from the amount we have given to the railway, we are giving two lakhs for the people who have died, 50 thousand for critically injured people and 10 thousand for the minor injured,” he told the media here.
“I am on my way to the train accident spot near Harda to personally oversee relief and rescue ops. along with CS and DG,” he tweeted.
“We are jointly managing the R and R ops with @RailMinIndia. Special arrangements are made to provide proper treatment to injured passengers,” he added.
At least 28 people have died after two passenger trains, Kamayani Express and Janata Express, derailed within minutes of each other while crossing flooded tracks in Madhya Pradesh last night.
Several NDRF teams have been rushed to the site of the derailment to carry out relief and rescue operations.
